We were lucky enough to spend 7 amazing days in Kaua'i for our honeymoon!!!
This was the view from our hotel room. We were updgraded to an ocean view because it was our honeymoon. :)
Wailua Falls
This was an awesome tree lined road we drove on a couple of times. It was so pretty, the picture really does not do it justice.
Po'ipu Beach, one of my favorite beaches!!
Hanalei Bay
Gorgeous Views!
This was driving on the west side of the island. We drove around the whole island, as far as the roads would go!
Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific! It was spectacular!
Our Favorite road again, different angle. :)
Po'ipu Beach
Roosters and Chickens were EVERYWHERE on the island!
'Opaeka'a Falls
Wailua River Lookout
Not so fun part of the trip...driving to DC...this is what we saw in Nebraska and Iowa! Yuck!! Take us back to the sunshine and warmth!
We had so much fun on our trip. The flights were LONG, we had some layovers to get there, but it was worth it. Kaua'i is beautiful. The island is very diverse, you can drive around the whole thing, as far as the roads will allow. The North, East, and South sides of the island are all very similar, but when you get to the West side, it looks completely different. There aren't as many palm trees and it just doesn't seem as tropical. It is usually sunnier and drier on this side as well. This is where the Waimea Canyon is...aka the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. I thought it was gorgeous, Eric didn't enjoy it as much because it is up pretty high and his fear of heights kicked in. :)
We loved hanging out on the beach, and my two favorites were Po'ipu Beach, which was on the south side, and Kealia Beach, which was on the East side and close to where we stayed. Sadly, I didn't get any pics at this beach. We saw some amazing sunsets and were able to even get surfing and snorkeling lessons! We surfed on the North Shore of the island, at Hanalei Bay. It was fun, but definitely hard. We were both able to stand up a couple of times, but for me, the hardest part was paddling out to catch the waves! I need to work on my arm strength. :) We snorkeled on the South shore, by Po'ipu beach. It was fun, we saw some giant sea turtles, an octopus, fish and coral. We also laid out by the pool a lot and just enjoyed baking in the sun!
It was an amazing vacation and so relaxing. We didn't want to leave and come back to real life, especially when that meant cold and snow! We can't wait to go back someday and hopefully see a couple more of the islands! Aloha!
