A little snowman. The snow was not great for making snowmen, it was hard to pack together!
Just hanging out and doing puzzles of day 2 of no water!
This week was one of the longest ever!! We had a major snowstorm that started on Valentine's Day. Our church was canceled and we were told to just do at home church. The snow didn't really start until night time, but it was extremely cold. There wasn't much on the ground when I went to bed that night, but when we woke up in the morning, we had a ton of snow! It was crazy how much we had, and also how cold we were. It was in the 20s but felt like 8 or 9 degrees! So very crazy for South Texas! Our kids were so excited and just wanted to run outside to play in it. We had to round up whatever warm clothes we could, which was a little difficult, but we made it work! They played outside for a little bit, but it was so cold that we couldn't stay out too long. We went out later in the day and they were able to play and try to make snowmen. The snow wasn't the packing kind though. I was hoping most of it would melt during the day, but it just didn't get warm enough. That night we had a pipe burst in our garage. Luckily I caught it pretty quickly and it didn't do any damage. We had to shut off our water that night though until Eric and his dad could fix it.
We were able to fix it the next morning, and helped our neighbor across the street that had the same thing happen! It seemed quite common in our neighborhood to have the same pipe burst that we did! Our kids had no school all week because we just don't have the equipment and supplies to clean up after snow. So everything was closed or at a stand still. We were very lucky that we were able to keep our power on the whole time. Texas experienced a major power outage across the state and some were without power for the whole time. We did lose water for about 2 1/2 days and that was not fun! Luckily we heard that a lot of people were losing water so we filled up buckets and our bath tub and it really saved us! We also went to one of Eric's coworkers house that had water and took showers after 2 days of none. It was not a fun drive to get to her house though. They closed all the overpasses due to ice and there still was ice snow on the roads. So it took us longer than expected and we slid on some ice on a little bridge. So I was on edge the whole time and not loving it. It was just a mess and not something I want to go through again.
We had almost all of the snow melted by Wednesday, but then another storm moved in on Thursday and we got just as much snow again. :( It was really depressing. We moved to the south so that we didn't have to deal with cold and snow! Haha! My kids loved it though and it was definitely an experience that we won't forget. Also, it was 75 degrees the next week and almost as if nothing had even happened! Just everyone's dead grass, plants and trees as evidence.
