Florida!

Jacksonville

Big Talbot State Park

St. Augustine

Fernandina Beach

We spent one wonderful week in Jacksonville, Florida!!  It was so much fun.  We loved exploring the different beaches and hanging out with Eric's sister, Angie and her cute family.  Our first beach day we got the kids out of school early and headed to Big Talbot State Park.  It was a beautiful beach, and there weren't very many people there.  We all had a lot of fun playing in the ocean and building sand castles. Kya especially loved being in the ocean, she couldn't get enough of it and wanted to just keep going out further in the water.  She was fearless and didn't care when the waves would knock her over.  It was awesome!
The next day we took the two younger kids, Drake and Kya and explored St. Augustine.  We went to the Lighthouse first, and it was really neat.  Angie went to the top with me and we were able to see some amazing views of the city.  It was really pretty.  There were 219 steps to the top, on those winding stairs, but we made it!  Next we went to Castillo de San Marcos.  It is a National Monument that is over 300 years old!  It was really cool to see.  After we were planning on going to the St. Augustine beach, but made a wrong turn and decided to go to a different one.  We pretty much failed in finding a good beach that day...we went to one, but the sand was horrible.  It was basically crushed seashells everywhere, and no sand!  So we headed to a different one that we don't even know the name of.  It was a little better.  The kids didn't seem to mind at all...as long as they could play in the ocean!
Our last beach day was spent at Fernandina Beach.  It is on Amelia Island and was also a lot of fun.  We had beautiful weather almost the whole time....it started raining a little before we were ready to leave.
After three beach days in a row, we were a little exhausted and spent our last day at the pool.  We also were able to see two of Kole's baseball games, one on Friday night and the other on the first Monday that we were there.  He's a great baseball player, and the games were fun to watch.  We really enjoyed the time that we had to spend in Florida.  It was so great to be with family!  Hopefully we will make it back some day soon!!
