Great Falls
Eric's parents came to visit the weekend of Mother's Day. We had so much fun showing them around and being able to spend time with them. We took them to Great Falls, because it is close by and always nice to see. The river was going a lot faster than we have seen it and was a lot browner because we had been having a lot of rain. It was a beautiful day though!
Mt. Vernon
We spent longer than expected at Mt. Vernon because there were about a million kids there on field trips! Oops! We didn't even think about that, so we had to wait a couple of hours before we were able to go into George Washington's house. Later that night we headed to the Visitor's Center at the Washington DC temple.
Gettysburg
Observation Tower that we all went up!
We spent our Saturday at Gettysburg. They had a self-guided car tour that you can take and see all of the monuments and battle grounds. It was really neat to see it all. It took about 2 1/2 hours to make it though the whole tour. Our day started out rainy and cloudy, but after our first stop it cleared up and we had beautiful weather for the rest of the time we were there. I love living so close to all of this history!
DC Monuments
The last day Eric's parents were here we had to show them the monuments in DC! It was especially windy that day, but sunny and most importantly, not raining! The Washington Monument has scaffolding all the way to the top now because they are doing renovation work on it after the Earthquake a few years ago. They finally have water in the reflection pool and it is the first time that I have seen it with water and the first time I have actually been able to walk right next to it as well. We had so much fun showing them around and were so glad that we could spend time with them. I think we may have worn them out with all there is to do here, but hope that they can make it back before we move in December!
