We headed to the beach again the last weekend of June. Angie and her kids came, as well as Jackie and 3 of her kids. We didn't have the best weather when we got there on Friday. It was raining a little, so we grabbed some lunch first and then made our way to the beach. The tide was really high, so we just tried to make the best of it. The kids didn't care that it was rainy, cloudy, or anything. They ran out in the water and had a blast! After being there for about an hour and a half, we saw that a huge rainstorm was coming, so we hurried and picked everything up and jumped in our cars to wait it out. We had to wait about an hour and then it cleared up enough to venture back out. It did ran lightly on and off the rest of the time that we stayed on Friday, but the kids really didn't care. That night we stayed at a hotel in Coprus Christi. Saturday ended up being a much better beach day. It was cloudy until the afternoon and then the sun finally came out! We spent all day at the beach. The kids had a blast boogie boarding, playing in the sand, and eating snacks all day! We did have quite the scare though at the end of the day. We were all trying to pick up the sand toys and just start getting things put away when we couldn't find Paxton. He had been playing right by our canopy and then nobody could find him. We were frantically looking for him, and some others around looked too, and finally found him about 10-15 mins later. He had wondered way down the beach. We still aren't sure how he even got as far as he did, but soo grateful that we found him and he was ok. It's crazy how between all of the adults there, none of us saw him walk away. It was a good reminder to me to pay better attention and to never let my kids take their life jackets off. Paxton had taken his off and we were looking in the water as well. It was a bittersweet ending of a fun day. But still so thankful that it ended well.
We were glad that we went to the beach when we did though, because the next week, all the beaches were closed due to Covid. Ughh it really is ruining everything! We are hoping to go at least one more time, so I guess we will have to wait until the beaches open back up! Despite everything that happened, we had a fun trip and our kids can't wait to go back!
